Are you ready for Summer Camp 2010? Camp is a special place for self-discovery, laughter, fun and personal growth. Girls have the opportunity to learn more about themselves and others as well as enhance their confidence in new skills. With positive role models, experiences that build self-esteem, new friends and exciting activities, girls will have the time of their lives at Girl Scout Camp!
Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa welcomes girls of all ages to experience a unique opportunity to develop and foster courage, confidence, and character while having fun at our summer camps. Girls can create a work of art, cook over an open fire, sleep under the stars, canoe, horseback ride, and so much more.
Camp is for all girls who are entering grades 1st-12th. Girls may come individually to camp or they can register with a friend.
- You do not need to be a Girl Scout to attend camp.
- Camp fees range in price per session: girls may use Cookie Dough from the cookie sale to pay for camp (except for the $30 deposit).
We would like to welcome your daughter to join in the FUN at one of our Girl Scout Camps.
There are limitless opportunities available at our camp sites throughout our jurisdiction. Please click on the camp names to the left (or below) to learn more and see pictures of each site.
We are proud to offer an array of activities at each camp location.
Locations: Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa camps are beautiful locations that are ready to make your summer one that you will never forget. Horses, sailing, star gazing, hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, and outdoor cooking are just a few of the opportunites that you can take advantage of at Girl Scout Camp. Summer 2010 will host two resident camps (Camp Sacajawea and Camp Tanglefoot) and one camp dedicated to troop camping (Joy Hollow). For photos and descriptions of each location, click below:
New Pricing Structure: Girl Scouts provides unparalleled camp experiences, where money is never a reason that a girl cannot attend camp. Our new three-tiered pricing structure allows us to continue to provide this type of experience to as many girls as possible while giving families the chance to support Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa summer camp at a level at which they are comfortable. This program is voluntary, confidential, and will not in any way affect a girl’s experience at camp.
Tier 1 is our full fee, covering many of the direct costs for a camper to participate in the camp session. We ask families to pay this amount if they have the financial means to do so.
Tier 2 is partially subsidized by Greater Iowa and is for those families that cannot afford the full fee, yet still want to support camps.
Tier 3 is the lowest-price tier. We encourage families to use this tier if this is the most affordable. This is the most heavily subsidized fee.
Payment may be made by check, credit card, Girl Scout Cookie Dough, Campership, or a combination of those options. A non-refundable deposit must accompany each summer camp registration, with full payment being due four weeks before the camp session begins.
Camp Forms from our camp book can be found by clicking here.
Camp Directors and Staff: We are very excited to welcome Margaret Hales as the Camp Director of Camp Sacajawea. She comes to us with ten years of camping experience and a ton of enthusiasm for the program. Julia Cira will be in her second year as camp director of Camp Tanglefoot and in her words "I can hardly contain my excitement" for the summer camp season to begin!
If you are interested, or know anyone interested in becoming a part of our camp staff, we are hiring for nurses, lifeguards, kitchen staff, counselors, and program specialists. Please fill out our employment application and/or contact one of our camp directors for more information.
